Establishment of racing team "Skuba team": going to dakar 2025
At Skuba we know every part: every part of client’s longest riding trucks, their business’ struggles, successes. And in parallel we, just like each of our client, are in this business for that automotive adventure: sweet feeling that it works, fits and brings positive results. Due to this personal adventure feeling which unites all of us from different paths of life, from different cultures,We are happy to announce that we gathered a professional team of rally-raid drivers, who will set a challenge themselves in various rallies around the year, but especially - will compete in Dakar 2025 in trucks category!
Team name: SKUBA TEAM
and they - just like us - are a mixed-cultured team:
pilot: Vaidotas Žala - Lithuanian rally driver, participating in Dakar for 10 years, but will drive truck for the first time ever;
navigator: Paulo Fiuza - Portuguese professional navigator, who started his truck racing career more than 18 years ago;
mechanic: Max van Grol - representative of the Netherlands, a former mechanic from Gerard De Rooy's team, which won the Dakar four times. Most recently - 2023.
Truck for Dakar 2025: De Rooy truck IVECO
For the world's toughest rally raid competition we need toughest machinery and most professional supporting team -- just like Skuba is in business!
So, De Rooy truck IVECO was selected due to impressive history of the team achievements and experience in competition which goes back for several decades.
This truck weighs 9 tons, generates 1,000 horsepower and 5,000 Newton-meters of torque, which is transmitted to 22.5-inch wheels by an Allison automatic transmission. The four-wheel-drive truck is controlled by Reiger shock absorbers with 30 cm of suspension travel.
One wheel of the truck weighs 135 kg. In the truck category, the crew has the ability to manage tire pressure directly from the cabin with the help of the Teleflow system. Interestingly, thanks to the modern EURO6 engine, the average fuel consumption will not differ much from the car category. Although this beast could go extremely fast off-road, the speed limit for the truck category is 140 km/h.
